Dear friends!
Summer is coming to an end, so VATRUS staff members have decided to celebrate the end of touristic season with the fly-in to one of the most popular resort destinations for russians - Crimea! Due to the COVID-19 pandemia this summer the borders were closed, so the only choice for our holidaymakers was the coast of Black Sea. Thanks to that in 2020, despite the traffic drop in spring and early summer, Simferopol airport handles up to 120 flights a day, having already served more than 4 million passengers in this season! During the summer period the airport has the largest domestic route network, being the busiest regional airport in Russia.
The traffic growth is also driven by new ultramodern terminal and apron capable of handling any aircraft type, built after our first event here in 2016. On the last day of IATA summer schedule, October 24th, we invite you to take action in the next fly-in of 2020-2021 season - Simferopol OverReal, to test the limits of the new airport infrastructure. ATC services will provide full coverage over the Crimea peninsula from 12 to 18 UTC.
The organizers would like to draw your attention to the fact, that most of the flights are turn-arounds: as Simferopol airport is not used as a homebase by any airline, all flights are conducted "in-and-out', not always to the same city, but none of the planes are parked here for more than couple hours, in particular, due to lack of stands. We kindly ask you to stick to this logic as much as possible when rostering your flights. As always, you are free to change aircraft types for the same class, e.g. Airbus A319/320/321 within the family or for Boeing 737CL/NG families.
The event will be supported by the ATC of adjacent Rostov FIR and the team of Moscow controllers. Information and charts can be found on VATRUS website.
See you in the skies of Crimea!
