Space routes: Orenburg-Saratov

Dear pilots and aviation enthusiasts!

The Moscow ATC Center (VATRUS division) invites you to participate in a symbolic flight between two cities forever linked to the legacy of Yuri Gagarin, the first human in space:

  • Orenburg (UWOO) — where Gagarin graduated from flight school and took his first steps into the sky.
  • Saratov/Gagarin (UWSS) — where he safely returned to Earth on April 12, 1961, completing his historic mission.

Two-way flights between UWOO (Orenburg) and UWSS (Gagarin).✈️ Realistic schedules — fly existing airline routes or create your own (historical-themed flights encouraged!).✈️ Special atmosphere — ATC will share quotes from Gagarin and spaceflight trivia during the event.

How to Participate:

  1. Plan your flight in either direction: Orenburg ↔ Gagarin.
  2. Review charts for UWOO and UWSS, and check NOTAMs.
  3. Connect to VATSIM during the event window.
  4. VFR pilots: Enjoy scenic views over the Volga steppes along the route.
