Tyumen FIR is a structural subdivision of the VATRUS division of the VATSIM network.

FIR operates within the borders of the Tyumen Region, Khanty-Mansiysk and Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrugs. The air space of the Tyumen region, which is 1 million 346 thousand square kilometers, stretching from the border with Kazakhstan to the Kara Sea, is a kind of border between the European and Asian parts of Russia.

The length of sections of air routes passing over the region is 48,523 kilometers, of which 35,989 kilometers are international air routes. FIR Tyumen is responsible for the entire transit flow of aircraft along the trans-Siberian and transpolar routes.

There are 19 airfields within the boundaries of the region, of which 4 are international. More than half of these airports provide transport accessibility to oil and gas fields in Russia, being strategic objects of energy companies.
