REGION

Yakutia region is the Queen of frost. The period from December to February is perhaps the most interesting for instrument flying.

The main aviation harbor of the region – Yakutsk international airport – the coldest airport in the world where minimum outside temperature can drop down below -60°C. In real world, it is the only international airport in the region.

October 8th – Yakutia aviation birthday (since 1925).

VIRTUAL FLIGHTS

Having about 2 000 flights per year or an average of 5-6 flights per day Yakutsk FIR is the least popular region of Russia.

The record of 76 flights per day was set on October 14, 2023 («Cross VATRUS» event).

Speaking destinations 96% of flights are domestic, 4% – the international ones. About 65-70% of all flights go to/from Yakutsk international airport.

Speaking mistakes in flight plans (departures, 2023):

1% of flights are performed with an incorrectly filed aircraft code;

7% of flights are performed with an incorrectly filed flight level.
