Description

Sokol Airport, formally Vladimir Vysotsky International Airport (IATA: GDX, ICAO: UHMM) is an airport in Sokol in Magadan Oblast, Russia. The airport is located 50 km (31 mi) north of the Magadan city center. The airport is sometimes confused with Dolinsk-Sokol air base in Sakhalin Island.

In the vicinity of the city there is also the Magadan-13 aerodrome, owned by the Magadan aircraft repair plant №73 GA and the now inactive Magadan-Severny unpaved aerodrome.

New terminal building is being constructed since 2022 and will be opened in December 2024.

Features

Airport is located in mountainous terrain. In Magadan(Sokol) CTA boundaries altitudes are calculated in feet by QNH.

RWY 10 is a preferential runway for take-off and landing.

Take-off of An-124/12; Be-200; Il-96/76/62/18; Tu-204/ 214/154/134; Yak-42; RRJ-95; B727/737/747/757/767/777; А-319/320/321/330 aircrafts and their modifications shall be carried out from the runway beginning only.
